NMC Number: 93C1947E
Qualifications: RN Mental Health, Dip HE, NMP.
I am a caring and compassionate nurse with over 25 years of clinical experience. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in Mental Health in 1996 at the University of Northampton. After qualifying, I first went to the independent sector working on secure mental health wards, support those who present with complex needs and an increased risk to themselves or others. Over time I progressed through several roles and finally to the position of Ward Manager.
Needing a change, and a desire to return to a clinical based role, I moved into the NHS in 2008 to Prison Mental Health. Prisons are essentially secure communities and thus clients can present with a wide range of mental health needs, e.g. anxiety and depression, trauma, enduring mental illness, personality disorder, learning disability, or ADHD. During this time I went on to complete my Non-Medical Prescribing, qualifying in 2016 through the University of Northampton. This enabled me to offer a greater level of care to patients by now being able to initiate, titrate, or change their medication, in a timely manner.
Building upon my own interest in neurodiversity, I have since worked in a dedicated Adult ADHD service within the NHS since March 2020. This has enabled me to expand my knowledge base and focus specifically on the treatment of those with ADHD. For most people, starting treatment for their ADHD can have a significant impact on the quality of their life, enabling them to utilise their individual strengths without the additional obstacles their neurodiversity can bring. I believe in a collaboratively person-focused approach and individual choice regarding treatment and look forward to working with you.
