NMC Number: 96I2420E
Qualification: Dip HE Registered Mental Health Nurse, University of Central England, Birmingham (1999). Master of Arts: Recover Programme in Community Mental Health, University of Birmingham (2004). Independent Non Medical Prescriber, St John Moores University, Liverpool (2015).
I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1999 and completed my Non Medical Prescribing Course in 2015.
When I first qualified I worked in Adult Mental Health inpatient setting and quickly moved to working with adults in the community who were experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems.
In 2002 I moved to The Wirral and began to work with adolescents in a community CAMHS Team. Apart from a brief spell working with adults in 2004 I’ve continued working with young people to present day.
I’ve always had an interest in prescribing and when the opportunity to study the NMC course came up I was keen to start and develop my practice. I began prescribing ADHD treatment for young people in 2018 and was astounded by how effective the treatment was and what a huge difference it can make for young people. Part of my role in CAMHS is to work with young adults to transition them into Adult ADHD Services and any other mental health agencies for support. I also contribute to the Autism assessment pathway.
Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors, going for long walks with my family and dogs. I’m a spiritual person and enjoy meditation, crystals and using mindfulness strategies in my day to day life.
I’m pleased to be part of the Psychiatry UK Titration Team providing a treatment service to people living with ADHD.
