NMC Number: 00i0083s
Qualifications: RMN, Independent Nurse Prescriber
I qualified as a mental health nurse in 2003 and I have worked mostly within acute mental health settings.
I have worked as an inpatient nurse, community nurse, crisis home treatment team, liaison psychiatry and most recently as a clinical lead for CAMHS urgent support service.
I have also worked in primary care where I gained skills in brief psychological interventions and group work.
I qualified as an NMP in 2021 and have prescribed in acute adult psychiatry. I then turned my skills to ADHD in adults and completed a quality improvement project in my work place which produced some key changed required for those with ADHD and autism to receive an equal service in acute mental health. I then completed a post graduate certificate in neurodevelopmental conditions which I completed in September 2022 which has strengthened my skills and knowledge in this area. I am now a trust autism champion.
I work for my local NHS trusts adult ADHD service as a bank clinical specialist nurse along side my permanent role as a clinical lead in CAMHS.
On a personal level I love going to the gym, I have been on ITVs ninja warrior, I have a great dane and 2 parrots. I have lived experience of neurodevelopmental conditions-my son has ADHD and autism and I feel I have pulled my profession and my passion together to provide a better service for people with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families. I can truly empathise with the struggles people and their families have endured but I can also see the abilities, opportunities and strengths people have who have a neurodevelopmental condition.
