NMC Number: 96J0017N
Qualifications: Registered Nurse (Senior Practitioner).
I qualified as a Learning Disability Nurse in 1999 from Queens University Belfast. Following on I have continued my nurse education by the completion of Paediatric Nursing (2003), Specialist Practice in Community Nursing (2007) and Non-Medical Prescribing (2017) for which I specialised in psychopharmacology and ADHD medications.
I have worked within the field of ADHD throughout my 20 years carer in nursing. This has been both within the hospital and community sectors.
Currently I am employed as a Specialist ADHD Nurse and Independent Non-Medical Prescriber within a busy and demanding NHS Neurodevelopmental Service. My role consists of assessing, diagnosing & prescribing treatment plans for children and young people with ADHD. As a neurodevelopmental team senior practitioner I also assess and diagnosis Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I am both enthusiastic and passionate about ADHD and strive to support individuals and their families to embrace their ADHD to enable them to live their lives to their full potential. By maintaining my continuing professional development I ensure that I am a competent and safe practitioner, keeping abreast of best practice guidelines and developments in relation to ADHD both nationally and internationally.
Within Psychiatry UK, I support the Consultant Psychiatrists during the initiation and stabilisation of ADHD treatment. I work closely with the patient and the Doctors during this time offering weekly support and guidance based on NICE Guidance.
